The Association For Creative Industries (AFCI) recognizes excellence in the creative industries, through both service and philanthropy. These individuals and organizations are celebrated each year at Creativation, AFCI's annual trade show and the largest gathering of creative industries professionals in North America.

Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame honor is presented to individuals for extraordinary contributions leading to the successes and growth of their organization(s) and our industry as a whole. In order to be eligible, nominees must no longer be actively involved in the Association, industry, retired or deceased.

This year's inductees are:

Creative Industry Product Hall of Fame 

The AFCI Creative Industry Product Hall of Fame recognizes creative industry products that have inspired creative expression and enjoyed popularity over a sustained period. Each year, the AFCI Awards Committee inducts new honorees and showcases both new and historic versions of classic products beloved by generations. Anyone can nominate a product to the Creative Industry Product Hall of Fame. This year's recipients are: 

  • Crayola Crayons
  • Mod Podge
  • Aleene's Tacky Glue

 

 

Creative Retailer of the Year 

AFCI recognizes two categories for the Creative Retailer of the Year award. 

Best Creative Brick and Mortar Retailer of the Year is open  to AFCI member independent brick and mortar retailers located in the United States and internationally with or without a digital retail presence, who have been in business for five (5) years or more. Judging will be based on the overall business and performance, technology integration, customer experience, community involvement and unique characteristics that set the business apart from other brick and mortar retailers. This year's recipient is: 

  • Hen and Chicks Studio, Heidi Kaisand, Conrad, IA

Best Creative Online Retailer of the Year is open to AFCI member online-only retailers without a physical location who have been in business for five (5) years or more. This includes sellers on eCommerce sites. Judging will be based on the overall business and performance, site usability, customer experience, community involvement and unique characteristics that set the business apart from online-only retailers.

 

Industry Awards

The Meritorious Award of Honor is the single highest award of recognition that AFCI can bestow upon an individual member, past or present. This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the AFCI. Previous recipients have been those who have served the organization on the Board of Directors, or in another capacity, for a number of years. Only one award can be presented annually. This year's recipient is:

  • Chuck McGonigle, former AFCI Board Chairman, CEO Mission Pets

The Industry Achievement Award is for an individual, group, company or company employee that made a significant contribution to the growth and vitality of the craft and hobby industry as a whole. Previous recipients have served the industry in their roles as corporate or organizational leaders. Only one award will be presented annually. This year's recipient is: 

  • Sara Davies, Crafter's Companion

The Special Recognition Award(s) is presented to an individual, a group and/or company for their extraordinary contribution in an activity that showcases the craft and hobby industry in a positive way. Previous recipients have served the greater community through their contributions of time, energy, funds, materials and services. Award recipient(s) need not be a member(s) of the Association. More than one award can be presented annually. This year's recipient is: 

  • Cards for Kindness by Scrapbook.com

 

Emerging Leader Award

Designed to cultivate leadership in the creative industry, the AFCI Emerging Leader program has been formed to recognize and grow the next generation of executives and thought leaders. The AFCI Emerging Leader Award honors professionals with 5-10 years of culminative industry experience who have been actively engaged in the creative industry and have demonstrated excellence at their organization. This year's recipients are: 

  • Lynn Lilly, Craft Box Girls
  • Alexandra Stapleton-Smith, The Hedgehog Hollow
